"body": "## Overview\n\nBeijing BRT Line 1, commonly called BRT1 or Kuai 1 and also known as the Southern Central Axis BRT, is part of the Beijing Bus Rapid Transit system. It was the first bus rapid transit line in mainland China and is operated by the Trolleybus Division of Beijing Public Transport Group. In 2004, a Beijing municipal government plan selected the Southern Central Axis for a BRT route. Changdatong Operating Company was established that year, and construction began alongside reconstruction of the Southern Central Axis Road. A section between Qianmen and Muxiyuan began trial operation on 25 December 2004; the full line opened on 30 December 2005.[^wiki-zh]\n\nThe line follows the Southern Central Axis through Fengtai and Dongcheng districts. It currently runs from Demaozhuang to Shazikou, covering about 11.2 km and serving 14 stops. First and last services run from 05:00 to 22:05 at Demaozhuang and from 05:45 to 22:50 at Shazikou. Headways are six minutes during peak periods and ten minutes off peak.[^wiki-zh]\n\n## Facilities and boarding\n\nAll BRT1 platforms are central, island-style platforms similar to metro platforms. Passengers pay or validate a transit card before entering; there are no onboard conductors. Vehicles have three doors on the left and use low-floor designs for level boarding. The section from Demaozhuang to Tiantan Ximen formerly used a dedicated, enclosed busway reserved for BRT vehicles.[^wiki-zh]\n\nFrom 30 September 2024, the operating hours of the Southern Central Axis bus lanes were changed to 07:00–09:00 and 17:00–19:00 on weekdays. The enclosed roadway was converted to an open arrangement, allowing general traffic to use it outside those peak periods.[^wiki-zh]\n\n## Fares\n\nThe line uses distance-based fares. Journeys of up to 10 km cost CNY 2; each additional 5 km costs CNY 1, up to a maximum fare of CNY 4 for the full route. When the line opened, it charged a flat fare of CNY 2. The fare was reduced after Beijing revised bus fares in 2007 and changed to the current distance-based system at the end of 2014.[^wiki-zh]\n\n## Route changes\n\nBRT1 substantially overlaps with Beijing Subway Line 8 between Yongdingmenwai and Demaozhuang. In November 2025, Beijing Public Transport Group announced plans to remove the buildings and operating facilities at four BRT1 stops: Qianmen, Tianqiao, Tiantan Ximen and Yongdingmennei. On 24 December 2025, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport published a consultation on bus service adjustments that proposed moving the northern terminus to Shazikou.[^wiki-zh]\n\nOn 7 February 2026, the northern terminus was moved from Qianmen to Shazikou, and the intervening stops between Qianmen and Yongdingmennei were discontinued. Route 622 added peak-period express services to cover the withdrawn section. Shazikou stop provides interchange access to Yongdingmenwai station on subway Lines 8 and 14.[^wiki-zh]\n\n## Tianqiao stop (historical)\n\nTianqiao stop was built in 2015 but remained unused for years; buses passed through without stopping. It was among the platforms Beijing Public Transport Group proposed removing in November 2025.[^wiki-zh]\n\n## Stops\n\nIn route order: Demaozhuang, Dongyingfang, Liuyingmen, Donggaodi, Xiwaidi, Sanyingmen, Heyinan, Heyi Farm, Jiujizhuang, Dahongmen Bridge, Dahongmen Xili, Nanyuan Road Orchard, Muxiyuan Bridge and Shazikou.\n\nDiscontinued stops: Yongdingmennei, Tiantan Ximen and Qianmen. Tianqiao was built but never entered service.",
