Its eastern section (Warschauer Straße–Gleisdreieck) belonged to the first Berlin U-Bahn line opened in 1902 and is the oldest part of the network; this section mostly runs on elevated viaducts and passes the famous Oberbaum Bridge. The line opened on 18 February 1902 and has carried the designation "U1" since 1984. ## Operator Operated by [Berlin Transport Company (BVG)](https://knowledge.ivjn.us/en/organizations/bvg.html). ## History The line originates from the trunk line opened by the Berlin elevated railway company on 18 February 1902 (Stralauer Tor–Potsdamer Platz–Zoologischer Garten); the eastern section via the Oberbaum Bridge is the oldest part of the Berlin U-Bahn network. The western section to Uhlandstraße opened on 12 October 1913, and the Gleisdreieck–Wittenbergplatz section opened on 24 October 1926. During the construction of the Berlin Wall, the eastern end of the line only ran as far as Schlesische Straße until 1995; on 14 October 1995, trains again reached Warschauer Straße. Between 1993 and 2004, the Uhlandstraße–Warschauer Straße section ran under the designation U15, and from the December 2004 timetable change it regained the "U1" designation. ## Stations Stations from west to east: - Uhlandstraße - Kurfürstendamm - Wittenbergplatz - Nollendorfplatz - Kurfürstenstraße - Gleisdreieck - Möckernbrücke - Hallesches Tor - Prinzenstraße - Kottbusser Tor - Görlitzer Bahnhof - Schlesisches Tor - Warschauer Straße Updated: 2026-10-28 Tags: - 地铁 https://knowledge.ivjn.us/en/tags/metro.html Mentioned in: - Berlin (City State) https://knowledge.ivjn.us/en/places/de-berlin.html - Nollendorfplatz station https://knowledge.ivjn.us/en/places/de-nollendorfplatz.html Sources: - U-Bahn-Linie U1 (Berlin) — Wikipedia https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/U-Bahn-Linie_U1_(Berlin) Abschnitte Verlauf und Stationen; abgerufen 2026-10-28 - U-Bahn-Linie U1: Fahrplan, Haltestellen — BVG https://www.bvg.de/de/verbindungen/linienuebersicht/u1 Haltestellenliste; abgerufen 2026-10-28
