In 2014 the line marked its 50th anniversary with over six billion passengers carried.\n- From 2027: The Chuo Maglev Shinkansen (Shinagawa-Nagoya) is scheduled to open.\n\n## Business\n\nThe Tokaido Shinkansen is the world's busiest high-speed railway, running up to 16 trains per hour per direction at two-minute headways. Nagoya-area conventional lines (Chuo, Kansai main lines), the Iida and Takayama lines are also under its management.",
