<body>Dong Jue was an important official in the last years of Shu Han in the Three Kingdoms period. Wikidata&#39;s Chinese label and the Chinese Wikipedia article title are both Dong Jue, and the article gives his courtesy name as Gongxi, so the heading stays the personal name. Wikidata records his birth as 204, with a birthplace in the Zaoyang area; the article gives his dates as unknown.[^wikidata][^zhwiki]&#xA;&#xA;## In the chancellor&#39;s office and the secretariat&#xA;&#xA;According to the Chinese Wikipedia article, Dong Jue served early on in the staff of the chancellor Zhuge Liang, as a clerk and later a record keeper. Zhuge Liang called him a good man and said his judgment in discussion was careful and fitting. After Zhuge Liang died he moved step by step into the masters of writing, and at the end of the Yanxi era became vice director. After Chen Zhi died in 259 he rose from vice director to director, with Zhuge Zhan as vice director, and they ran the secretariat together. In 261 he became general who supports the state and Marquis of Nanxiang, still in charge of the secretariat&#39;s business, and he, Zhuge Zhan and Fan Jian handled affairs of state together. The article says that the eunuch Huang Hao held power then, that neither Dong Jue nor Zhuge Zhan was able to correct it, and that Chen Shou criticized them for being unable to set things right.[^zhwiki]&#xA;&#xA;## Jiang Wei and the fall of Shu&#xA;&#xA;In 262 Jiang Wei was beaten by Deng Ai at Houhe. According to the article, Zhuge Zhan, Dong Jue and others judged that Jiang Wei&#39;s yearly campaigns had achieved nothing and exhausted the country, and sent a memorial asking the emperor to recall Jiang Wei to Chengdu and strip him of his command. Huang Hao also wanted to remove Jiang Wei from his post as grand general and replace him with Yan Yu. Jiang Wei became afraid and stationed part of the Shu army at Tazhong rather than going back to Chengdu. In 263 Zhong Hui and Deng Ai invaded Shu in force. Dong Jue and Zhang Yi went to defend around the Yang&#39;an pass and later withdrew with Jiang Wei to Jiange. After the front failed the Shu defenses quickly collapsed, and Jiang Wei and others, on the emperor&#39;s order, laid down their arms at Qixian. Dong Jue surrendered with them.[^zhwiki]&#xA;&#xA;## After joining Wei&#xA;&#xA;The article records that in 264, the year after Shu fell, Dong Jue and Fan Jian and others were moved to Luoyang, where he served as adviser to the chancellor, later holding the additional post of mounted attendant, and was sent to pacify and visit the Shu lands. Little is recorded of his later life, and his death year is not found in the standard histories.[^zhwiki]&#xA;&#xA;## Basic facts&#xA;&#xA;- Name: Dong Jue[^zhwiki]&#xA;- Courtesy name: Gongxi[^wikidata][^zhwiki]&#xA;- Born: recorded as 204 on this entry[^wikidata]&#xA;- Birthplace: [[place_cn_420683|Zaoyang]][^wikidata]&#xA;- Affiliation: Shu Han[^wikidata]&#xA;- Portrayal: [[person_cn_q124424922|Dong Jue]] (a character in Romance of the Three Kingdoms)</body>
