Ouguan is a character in the novel Dream of the Red Chamber. Wikidata names her Ouguan, so the title stays that name. This entry records her as an actress, a nun, and a maid.[1][2]

The troupe

She is one of the twelve girls the Jia house bought to sing, and her role was the young male. The article names the other eleven as Wenguan, Baoguan, Yuguan, Lingguan, Diguan, Ruiguan, Qieguan, Fangguan, Kuiguan, Douguan, and Aiguan. After the troupe was disbanded she went into Lin Daiyu's rooms. On stage she and Diguan, who played the young female, often acted as husband and wife. They were unusually close and thought of themselves as a pair. Diguan died young.[2]

Leaving to become a nun

Lady Wang later drove the actresses out of the garden, saying that girls who sang plays were of course fox spirits. Ouguan and Ruiguan followed the nun Yuanxin and became nuns at Dizang nunnery.[2]
