Learning that Hua Rong had rebelled, he led five hundred men himself to seize him and fought forty or fifty rounds without result, but being bold without strategy he fell into a pit and was captured. Even then he refused to submit. Song Jiang, who knew his valor, wanted him as a general and, with Hua Rong and others, devised a plot that led Murong Yanda, the prefect of Qingzhou, to believe Qin Ming had gone over to Liangshan and to kill his whole family. Qin Ming flew into a rage, joined Song Jiang, swore revenge and took part in the capture of Qingzhou. Hua Rong, guilty about it, gave Qin Ming his sister as wife, and Song Jiang and the others comforted him generously, so he put the grievance aside. When Guan Sheng led an army against Liangshan, Qin Ming captured Xuan Zan alive, which forced Guan Sheng to submit. At the great ranking he stood seventh and third of the Five Tiger Generals. He later accepted the court's amnesty with the other heroes and took part in the campaigns against the Liao, Wang Qing, Tian Hu and Fang La.[^zhwiki]\n\n## Death in the Fang La campaign\n\nIn the southern campaign he killed the enemy general Feng Yi with a hammer, among other feats. Near the end, on the border of Qingxi County, he met Fang La's nephew Fang Jie and others.
