Sheyue is a character in Dream of the Red Chamber and a maid of Jia Baoyu. Both Wikidata and the Chinese Wikipedia article use Sheyue, and the cited sources give neither a surname nor another name for her, so the title stays as it is.[1][2]
Her place in the Yihong Court
The Chinese Wikipedia article says Sheyue is a maid at Jia Baoyu's side and ranks second only to Xiren in the Yihong Court. She is honest and steady, and seems like another Xiren.[2]
The lot and her end
In the drinking game of chapter 63, Sheyue draws the tuMi flower lot, which reads that the flower's finest days are past and that when tuMi blooms the flower season is over. The article says that by this hint, after the Jia family falls, Sheyue will be the last maid to remain beside Baoyu and Baochai. As support it cites a comment by Zhiyan zhai at chapter 20 that after Xiren marries away, she should by all means keep Sheyue. After Baoyu leaves to become a monk, only Sheyue and Baochai are left to depend on each other, which the article calls a very sad end, and the commentators on the manuscript feel pity for her. The article adds that the hint of chapter 63 points to her sad end, but the continuing author did not notice it.[2]
