"body": "## Overview\n\nToday's station building by Paul Bonatz was partially put into operation on 23 October 1922; the station is a terminus. It belongs to Preisklasse 1 and, with around 300,000 travellers and visitors daily, is Deutsche Bahn's fifth-busiest long-distance station. As part of the major Stuttgart 21 project it is being converted into an underground through station rotated by about 90 degrees with eight tracks; the Bonatz building is being preserved.\n\n## Services\n\n- Long-distance rail: [[concept_ice_11|ICE 11]], [[concept_ice_42|ICE 42]]; plus further ICE lines, ICE/TGV to Paris, various IC lines and Railjet\n- S-Bahn: Underground S-Bahn station (tracks 101/102) with lines S1–S6, S60\n- Regional rail: Several IRE, RE and RB lines into the surrounding region\n\n## Station layout\n\nThe terminus has 16 surface tracks and two underground S-Bahn tracks. Beneath the Arnulf-Klett-Platz lies an underground Stadtbahn station (opened 1976) with four tracks, served among others by lines U5, U6, U7 and U15.",
