<body>## Overview&#xA;&#xA;Nagasaki is a first-level administrative division of [[place_japan_country|Japan]] in the Kyushu region. Its area is about 4,132 km2 and its population about 0.0 million (2024), with its capital at Nagasaki.&#xA;&#xA;## History&#xA;&#xA;Part of old Hizen Province; under sakoku isolation, Dejima in Nagasaki was Japan&#39;s only international trading port and a center of Christian culture and Dutch learning. The prefecture was created in 1871.&#xA;&#xA;## Geography and industry&#xA;&#xA;Hashima (Gunkanjima, World Heritage), Glover Garden, the Atomic Bomb Museum and Oura Cathedral are famous; champon noodles and castella sweets, plus the island chains of the Goto, Iki and Tsushima, are distinctive.&#xA;&#xA;## Transport&#xA;&#xA;[[concept_japan_shinkansen_nishikyushu|Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen]] opened in September 2022, running from Takeo-Onsen via Ureshino-Onsen, Shin-Omura and Isahaya to Nagasaki.</body>
