# Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon (Bishōjo Senshi Sērā Mūn) is a shōjo manga by Naoko Takeuchi, serialized in Kodansha's Nakayoshi since December 1991 and adapted into a television anime.

Sailor Moon is a shōjo manga drawn by Naoko Takeuchi, serialized from the February 1992 issue of Nakayoshi, released on 28 December 1991. The story follows the junior high school student Usagi Tsukino, who awakens as Sailor Moon after meeting Luna, a talking black cat, and fights enemies together with the other Sailor Guardians.

## Adaptations and merchandise

The collected volumes were published by Kodansha, and the television anime was produced by Toei Animation. The work established "battle magical girls" as the mainstream form of the genre, and the heroine's transformation items were later developed into a long-running line of licensed toys.
