La línea ICE 28 circula cada dos horas desde Hamburgo-Altona por Berlín, Leipzig y Erfurt hasta Múnich y forma con la línea 18 una frecuencia horaria entre Hamburgo y Núremberg.

## Descripción general

La línea ICE 28 conecta Hamburgo-Altona por Hamburg Hbf, Wittenberge y Berlin-Spandau con Berlín y desde allí continúa por Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Leipzig, Erfurt, Bamberg, Erlangen y Núremberg hasta Múnich. A diferencia de la línea 18, circula por Leipzig en lugar de por Halle. Algunos trenes comienzan o terminan en Kiel. Se emplean unidades múltiples de las series ICE 4 e ICE 1.

## Historia

La línea 28 circula desde Hamburgo-Altona por Berlín y Leipzig —a diferencia de la línea 18, por lo demás similar, que pasa por Halle— hasta Múnich. Un par de trenes comienza y termina en Kiel. En Coburgo solo hacen parada algunos trenes debido a los alrededor de doce minutos más de tiempo de viaje; entre Núremberg y Múnich todos los trenes circulan por Ingolstadt, aunque solo uno hacia el sur hace parada allí.
