    "body": "## Descripción general\n\nLa línea de metro U5 discurre desde la estación central de Berlín (Hauptbahnhof) en Moabit en dirección este por Brandenburger Tor, Unter den Linden, Museumsinsel y Alexanderplatz, a lo largo de la Karl-Marx-Allee y la Frankfurter Allee a través de Lichtenberg y Friedrichsfelde, y luego en superficie por Kaulsdorf y Hellersdorf hasta Hönow en el límite oriental de la ciudad. Tiene 26 estaciones y una longitud de unos 22 km. La línea se inauguró el 21 de diciembre de 1930 (tramo Alexanderplatz–Friedrichsfelde); su última ampliación fue, el 4 de diciembre de 2020, la prolongación de la U5 desde Alexanderplatz hasta la estación central, que incorporó la antigua línea U55.\n\n## Operador\n\nEl operador es [[organization_bvg|Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG)]].\n\n\n## Historia\n\nLa línea de perfil ancho E se inauguró el 21 de diciembre de 1930 entre Alexanderplatz y Friedrichsfelde y permaneció hasta 1990 como la única línea de perfil ancho de Berlín Este. Siguieron las prolongaciones hasta Tierpark (25 de junio de 1973), hasta Elsterwerdaer Platz (1 de julio de 1988) y hasta Hönow (1 de julio de 1989).
