# Línea U5 (Metro de Múnich)

La U5 del metro de Múnich se inauguró en 1984, mide 15,4 km, atiende 18 estaciones y circula desde Laimer Platz hasta Neuperlach Süd.

## Descripción general

La línea de metro U5 circula por 15,4 km entre Laimer Platz en el oeste y Neuperlach Süd en el sureste y atiende 18 estaciones. El color de línea es el marrón. La línea se inauguró el 10 de marzo de 1984 junto con la U4 en el tramo Westendstraße–Karlsplatz; en 1988 siguieron la prolongación oeste hasta Laimer Platz y la prolongación este desde Odeonsplatz por la estación Ostbahnhof hasta Innsbrucker Ring y más allá hasta la ciudad satélite de Neuperlach, hasta Neuperlach Süd. La U5 es, junto con la U6, la única línea que sale del túnel a la superficie: tras Therese-Giehse-Allee circula en superficie hasta la estación elevada de Neuperlach Süd, donde existen correspondencias sin transbordo con la S7.

Junto con la U4, la U5 circula por la línea troncal por Westendstraße, Hauptbahnhof, Karlsplatz (Stachus), Odeonsplatz y Lehel hasta Max-Weber-Platz. Una prolongación oeste hacia Pasing está en construcción.

## Historia

La U5 entró en servicio el 10 de marzo de 1984 junto con la U4 en el tramo Westendstraße–Karlsplatz. El 24 de marzo de 1988 se inauguró el tramo occidental Westendstraße–Laimer Platz, y el 27 de octubre de 1988 el tramo Odeonsplatz–Innsbrucker Ring; desde 1999 la U5 opera sola la línea hasta Neuperlach Süd. Una prolongación desde Laimer Platz hasta Pasing (inicio de las obras en 2024, apertura prevista para los primeros años de la década de 2030) está en construcción.
