# Ligne U4 (métro de Munich)

Avec 9,2 km et 13 stations, la ligne U4 est la plus courte ligne du métro de Munich ; elle fut ouverte en 1984 et circule de Westendstraße à Arabellapark.

## Présentation

La ligne U4 du métro de Munich circule sur 9,2 km entre Westendstraße à l'ouest et l'Arabellapark à l'est et dessert 13 stations ; elle est ainsi la plus courte ligne du métro de Munich. La couleur de la ligne est le vert menthe. La ligne fut ouverte le 10 mars 1984 avec le trajet Westendstraße–Karlsplatz ; en 1986 suivit le prolongement jusqu'à l'Odeonsplatz et le 27 octobre 1988 l'embranchement du Max-Weber-Platz à l'Arabellapark. À l'origine, la ligne était planifiée comme U9.

La U4 circule conjointement avec la U5 sur la ligne principale via Westendstraße, la gare centrale, Karlsplatz (Stachus), Odeonsplatz et Lehel jusqu'au Max-Weber-Platz, où les lignes se séparent. Elle est la seule ligne à être exploitée régulièrement principalement avec des rames courtes à quatre voitures (sauf le vendredi après-midi et pendant l'Oktoberfest). À partir d'environ 20:40, la U4 ne circule plus qu'entre Odeonsplatz et Arabellapark.

Elle est exploitée par la [MVG (Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft)](/fr/organizations/mvg.html), une filiale des Stadtwerke München (SWM).


## Histoire

La U4 entra en service le 10 mars 1984 conjointement avec la U5 sur le tronçon Westendstraße–Karlsplatz ; à l'origine, le trajet était planifié comme U9. Le 1er mars 1986 suivit le tronçon Karlsplatz–Odeonsplatz. Le 27 octobre 1988, la U4 atteignit son terminus est actuel à l'Arabellapark ; le prolongement planifié vers Johanneskirchen ne fut jamais construit.
