हैम्बर्ग एल्बे और अल्स्टर नदियों के पास बसा एक नगर-राज्य है; क्षेत्रफल लगभग 755 km² और जनसंख्या लगभग 1,85 मिलियन (जनगणना 2022); शहर जर्मनी का दूसरा सबसे बड़ा है।

मुक्त हैंज़े-शहर हैम्बर्ग एल्बे नदी पर, उत्तरी सागर से लगभग 100 km भीतर स्थित है और लगभग 1,85 मिलियन निवासियों (जनगणना 2022) के साथ जर्मनी का दूसरा सबसे बड़ा शहर है। लगभग 755 km² पर एक घना महानगरीय क्षेत्र केंद्रित है। ISO-3166-2 कोड DE-HH है। हैम्बर्ग 1949 में जर्मन संघीय गणराज्य का संस्थापक राज्य था।
