Brown，1912年5月22日—2004年12月19日）出生于伦敦（英国），2004年12月19日在拉斐特（美国）去世。\n\n## 生平与职业生涯\n\n布朗生于伦敦一个来自日托米尔的乌克兰裔犹太人家庭，两岁时随家人迁往美国芝加哥；1930年代初先后就读于克兰初级学院和赖特初级学院，1935年秋进入芝加哥大学，1936年获理学学士学位，1938年在导师赫尔曼·欧文·施莱辛格指导下获博士学位[^s3][^s4]。他1939年任芝加哥大学讲师，1943年转往韦恩州立大学，1947年起任普渡大学无机化学教授，直至1978年退休为荣誉教授[^s4]。\n\n## 主要成就\n\n第二次世界大战期间，布朗与施莱辛格合作发现了生产硼氢化钠的方法，硼氢化钠可用于制造单质硼和氢气；随后他把硼烷化学发展为有机合成的系统工具，1950年代后期确立了硼氢化反应：硼烷加成到不饱和化合物上，再经氧化得到醇，为立体选择性合成开辟了新途径[^s3][^s4]。他还发展出手性硼烷试剂，可还原某些有机化合物得到纯的不对称对映体，这是当时第一种得到纯不对称对映体的方法；1969年他获美国国家科学奖章，门下博士后研究员根岸英一与铃木章后来也获得诺贝尔化学奖[^s4]。\n\n## 获奖\n\n1979 年诺贝尔化学奖由 2 位得主共享，赫伯特·布朗占其中 1/2 份，官方获奖理由（官方原文）：“for their development of the use of boron- and phosphorus-containing compounds, respectively, into important reagents in organic synthesis”[^s1]。获奖时所属机构为 Purdue University，所在地为西拉法叶（美国）[^s1]。\n\n## 参见\n\n[[work_nobel_prize_1979|1979 年诺贝尔奖]]、[[concept_nobel_prize|诺贝尔奖]]",
