Il suo tratto orientale (Warschauer Straße—Gleisdreieck) appartiene alla prima linea della metropolitana di Berlino inaugurata nel 1902 ed è la parte più antica dell'intera rete; gran parte di questo tratto corre su un viadotto sopraelevato e passa per il famoso ponte Oberbaum. La linea è stata inaugurata il 18 febbraio 1902 e dal 1984 porta la numerazione "U1". ## Gestore Gestita da [Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG)](/it/organizations/bvg.html). ## Storia La linea trae origine dalla linea principale inaugurata dalla Berliner Hochbahngesellschaft il 18 febbraio 1902 (Stralauer Tor—Potsdamer Platz—Zoologischer Garten); il tratto orientale attraverso il ponte Oberbaum è la parte più antica della rete metropolitana berlinese. Il tratto occidentale verso Uhlandstraße fu inaugurato il 12 ottobre 1913, il tratto Gleisdreieck—Wittenbergplatz il 24 ottobre 1926. Durante il periodo del Muro di Berlino l'estremità orientale della linea circolò fino al 1995 solo fino alla stazione Schlesische Straße; il 14 ottobre 1995 i treni raggiunsero di nuovo Warschauer Straße.
