丹尼尔·那森斯（Daniel Nathans，1928年10月30日—1999年11月16日）是1978 年诺贝尔生理学或医学奖得主之一。

**丹尼尔·那森斯**（Daniel Nathans，1928年10月30日—1999年11月16日）出生于威尔明顿（美国），1999年11月16日在巴尔的摩（美国）去世。

## 生平与职业生涯

丹尼尔·那森斯在特拉华大学获得学士学位，在华盛顿大学圣路易斯分校获得医学博士学位，在美国国立卫生研究院工作后，1962年起任教于约翰斯·霍普金斯大学医学院。1995至1996年，他任约翰斯·霍普金斯大学临时校长，1993年获美国国家科学奖章[^s3]。

## 主要成就

那森斯与汉密尔顿·史密斯合作，首次把限制性内切酶用作基因分析工具：他用HindII酶把猴病毒SV40的环状DNA切成11个片段，并绘制出第一张病毒基因图谱。限制性酶切割与图谱绘制成为基因工程的起点，为重组DNA技术与基因测序铺平了道路[^s1]。

## 获奖

1978 年诺贝尔生理学或医学奖由 3 位得主共享，丹尼尔·那森斯占其中 1/3 份，官方获奖理由（官方原文）：“for the discovery of restriction enzymes and their application to problems of molecular genetics”[^s1]。获奖时所属机构为 Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine，所在地为巴尔的摩（美国）[^s1]。
