De deelstaat omvat rond 29.650 km² en telt ongeveer 2,53 miljoen inwoners (volkstelling 2022). De ISO-3166-2-code is DE-BB. Brandenburg trad in 1990 in het kader van de hereniging toe tot de Bondsrepubliek.\n\n## Bestuurlijke indeling\n\nBrandenburg vormde in 1990 geen regierungsbezirke (bestuursdistricten); het staatsbestuur wordt georganiseerd via vier Landesrathäuser respectievelijk nevenvestigingen. Onder het deelstaatniveau bestaan 14 landkreise (plattelandsdistricten) en 4 kreisfreie steden (stadsdistricten) (Brandenburg an der Havel, Cottbus, Frankfurt (Oder), Potsdam).\n\n## Grootste steden\n\n- Potsdam（rond 190.000 inwoners）\n- Cottbus（rond 100.000 inwoners）\n- Brandenburg an der Havel（rond 72.000 inwoners）\n- Frankfurt (Oder)（rond 57.000 inwoners）\n\n## Vervoer\n\nBrandenburg is goed verbonden via de luchthaven Berlin Brandenburg, de Berlijnse ringautosnelwegen (A 10) en spoorlijnen naar Berlijn, Hamburg en Polen; meerdere ICE- en Regio-lijnen lopen door de deelstaat.\n\n## Economie\n\nBelangrijk zijn de locatie van de Tesla-gigafabriek in Grünheide, de aardolieverwerking in Schwedt, de land- en bosbouw evenals het toerisme (o.a.
