    "body": "## Overzicht\n\nChungcheongbuk-do is een bestuurlijke eenheid op het eerste niveau in het centrale binnenland van Zuid-Korea en de enige provincie van het land zonder kust. De oppervlakte bedraagt 7.406 km² en de bevolking was in 2024 ongeveer 1,6 miljoen. De provinciale overheid is gevestigd in Cheongju[^ko-wiki].\n\n## Basisgegevens\n\n- Oppervlakte: 7.406 km²\n- Bevolking: ongeveer 1,6 miljoen (2024)\n- Onderverdeling: 3 steden en 8 county's\n- Provinciehoofdstad: Cheongju[^ko-wiki]\n\n## Geschiedenis\n\nIn de perioden van Goguryeo en Silla waren er secundaire hoofdsteden (sogyeong) op plaatsen als Jungwon (het huidige Chungju) en Seowon (Cheongju). De provincie werd in 1896 ingesteld bij de invoering van het systeem van dertien provincies. In 1908 verhuisde het provinciale bestuur van Chungju naar Cheongju. In de jaren 2010 groeiden de biotechnologie in Osong en de halfgeleiderindustrie in Cheongju snel[^ko-wiki].\n\n## Bestuurlijke indeling\n\nDe provincie omvat de steden Cheongju, Chungju en Jecheon en de county's Boeun, Okcheon, Yeongdong, Jeungpyeong, Jincheon, Goesan, Eumseong en Danyang[^ko-wiki].\n\n## Geografie\n\nDe bergketens Sobaek en Charyeong lopen door de provincie. Er liggen de nationale parken Songnisan, Woraksan en Sobaeksan. De riviersystemen van de Geum en de Han stromen door het gebied[^ko-wiki].\n\n## Economie en industrie\n\nBelangrijke sectoren zijn het biotechnologiepark Osong, de halfgeleiderindustrie in Cheongju en de landbouw in Jincheon en Eumseong. Ook de internationale luchthaven Cheongju ligt in de provincie[^ko-wiki].\n\n## Vervoer\n\nDe hogesnelheidslijn Gyeongbu stopt in Osong; ook de spoorlijnen Chungbuk en Jungang lopen door de provincie.
