Circula de Röthenbach, no sudoeste de Nuremberga, passando pelo Plärrer, pela estação principal e pelo Rathenauplatz até ao Aeroporto, a norte. O primeiro troço entre o Plärrer e Schweinau foi inaugurado em 28 de janeiro de 1984; em 1999 a linha atingiu o seu ponto terminal atual no Aeroporto. O troço entre Ziegelstein e o Aeroporto é o único troço de túnel de via única de um metro alemão. Desde janeiro de 2010 que a U2 circula totalmente sem condutores. ## Operador O operador é a [VAG Nuremberga](/pt/organizations/vag-nuernberg.html). ## História A U2 foi inaugurada em 28 de janeiro de 1984 entre o Plärrer e Schweinau e prolongada por vários troços em direção a norte. Em 27 de novembro de 1999 atingiu, com o troço Herrnhütte – Flughafen, o seu ponto terminal atual.
