爱德华·珀塞尔（E. M. Purcell，1912年8月30日—1997年3月7日）是1952 年诺贝尔物理学奖得主之一。

**爱德华·珀塞尔**（Edward Mills Purcell，1912年8月30日—1997年3月7日）出生于泰勒维尔（美国），1997年3月7日在剑桥（美国）去世。

## 生平与职业生涯

爱德华·珀塞尔在普渡大学学习电机工程，在哈佛大学获物理学博士学位，二战期间在麻省理工学院辐射实验室从事雷达研究，战后回到哈佛大学长期任教，并著有经典电磁学教材[^s3]。

## 主要成就

1945年12月，珀塞尔与罗伯特·庞德、亨利·托里合作，在石蜡等凝聚态物质中观测到核磁共振吸收，1946年发表相关结果；几乎同时，斯坦福大学的费利克斯·布洛赫独立地在液体中得到类似结果。核磁共振为精确测定原子核磁性质、解析分子结构提供了新方法，后来发展为化学分析的重要工具，并成为磁共振成像（MRI）的物理基础[^s1][^s3]。

## 获奖

1952 年诺贝尔物理学奖由 2 位得主共享，爱德华·珀塞尔占其中 1/2 份，官方获奖理由（官方原文）：“for their development of new methods for nuclear magnetic precision measurements and discoveries in connection therewith”[^s1]。获奖时所属机构为 Harvard University，所在地为剑桥（美国）[^s1]。
