Smith，1941年3月10日—）出生于诺沃克（美国）。\n\n## 生平与职业生涯\n\n乔治·P·史密斯1963年获哈弗福德学院生物学学士学位，其间做过一年中学教师和实验技术员，1970年获哈佛大学细菌学与免疫学博士学位。随后他在威斯康星大学跟随奥利弗·史密斯做博士后，1975年起任密苏里大学生物科学教授，2000年获校董杰出教授称号，2015年退休为荣誉教授。1983至1984学年他在杜克大学随罗伯特·韦伯斯特做访问研究，噬菌体展示的构想正是在此期间萌芽[^s3]。\n\n## 主要成就\n\n史密斯1985年首次报道噬菌体展示技术：把外源肽段的基因拼接到丝状噬菌体外壳蛋白基因上，使肽段展示在噬菌体表面，从而可以用亲和筛选从海量变体中钓出结合特定靶标的蛋白。这一“以进化方式演化新蛋白”的方法后来经格雷格·温特等人发展，成为研制全人源治疗抗体的关键平台，广泛用于药物发现[^s3]。\n\n## 获奖\n\n2018 年诺贝尔化学奖由 3 位得主共享，乔治·P·史密斯占其中 1/4 份，官方获奖理由（官方原文）：“for the phage display of peptides and antibodies”[^s1]。获奖时所属机构为 University of Missouri，所在地为哥伦比亚（美国）[^s1]。\n\n## 参见\n\n[[work_nobel_prize_2018|2018 年诺贝尔奖]]、[[concept_nobel_prize|诺贝尔奖]]",
