Tesla, Inc. is an American electric vehicle and clean energy company that entered autonomous mobility with its robotaxi business: it launched paid robotaxi service in Austin, Texas in June 2025, began removing safety drivers from January 2026 and expanded to Houston and Dallas, while its paid rides in the California Bay Area still require a safety driver under state rules.
