Fa of Xia

Fa, of the Si clan, was the sixteenth ruler of the Xia dynasty, a son of Gao and the father of Jie, though one view makes him Jie's elder brother. The Bamboo Annals say that after he took the throne the Yi peoples came and danced before him, and that in his seventh year Mount Tai shook. His name is also written Jing, Jing Fa or Fa Hui.[^wikidata][^zhwiki]

Profile

Person category
historical figure

Fa was a ruler of the Xia dynasty in early Chinese antiquity. Chinese Wikipedia says his clan name was Si and his personal name Fa. Wikidata's Chinese label is 發, written 发 in simplified characters, and it lists the title Di Fa as another name, so the heading stays as it is. The article also says his name is written Jing, Jing Fa or Fa Hui, which are variants or other forms and give no single name that could replace Fa. Wikidata describes him as the sixteenth ruler of the Xia dynasty, places him in the Xia dynasty, and gives no birth or death dates.[1][2]

Lineage

Chinese Wikipedia says he was the sixteenth ruler of Xia and the son of Gao. He was the father of Jie, although one view makes him Jie's elder brother. Wikidata also gives his father as Gao and lists Jie among his children.[2][1]

What the Bamboo Annals record

The article cites the Bamboo Annals as saying that after Fa took the throne the Yi peoples came and danced before him, and that in his seventh year on the throne Mount Tai shook. These are records in an ancient text, and the article gives no other material to confirm them.[2]
