Ge Ding is a fictional character in the chapter-novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Wikidata's Chinese label and the Chinese Wikipedia article title are both Ge Ding, and Wikidata records him as a fictional character, a soldier, set in Han, so the heading stays the same.[1][2]
In the novel
According to the Chinese Wikipedia article, Ge Ding comes from Donglai commandery in Qing province, and is a fellow townsman and subordinate officer of Taishi Ci under Sun Quan. His brother is the stable hand who feeds the horses under Zhang Liao, who is guarding Hefei for Cao Cao. On Taishi Ci's orders Ge Ding slips into Hefei, where Taishi Ci has him set fire to the stables so that an attack from inside and outside can take the city and kill Zhang Liao. Zhang Liao keeps calm, sees through the plan, and Li Dian captures Ge Ding and his brother. After learning the facts Zhang Liao has Ge Ding beheaded in front of his horse. Zhang Liao then sets a trap for Taishi Ci, who is badly wounded and dies after returning to camp. The article records nothing more about him.[2]
