Han Fu is a fictional character in the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Wikidata gives his Chinese label as 韩福 (traditional form 韓福) and his English label as Han Fu, and describes him as grand administrator of Luoyang, set in the Han dynasty, with the occupation of military officer. Chinese Wikipedia states plainly that the Records of the Three Kingdoms contain no such person. The title stays as the character's name.[1][2]

In the novel

According to the Chinese Wikipedia summary, in chapter 27 of the novel Han Fu is an official under Cao Cao and grand administrator of Luoyang. Guan Yu is escorting the two wives of Liu Bei to join him, and Luoyang is the second pass he reaches. To stop him, Han Fu plans with his subordinate officer Meng Tan that Meng Tan will fight Guan Yu and then feign defeat to draw him on, while Han Fu shoots a hidden arrow that hits Guan Yu's left arm. Ignoring the pain, Guan Yu charges forward and kills him. The article counts him as the third general Guan Yu kills while passing the five passes and slaying six generals.[2]

Other works

The same article notes that the 2010 film Guan Yunchang also has a Han Fu, played by Nie Yuan, a gang boss in Luoyang who is as close as a brother to Guan Yu and who dies by his blade, in a story different from the novel.[2]
