Jiao Da is a character in the novel Dream of the Red Chamber. Wikidata names him Jiao Da, so the title stays that personal name. The entry lists him as a servant of the Ningguo house.[1][2]
Early service
He was an old servant of the Ningguo house. As a young man he went on campaign several times with Duke Ning, Jia Yan. Once, when his master was near death, Jiao Da carried him out of a heap of corpses. When food ran out he went hungry himself and stole something for his master. When water ran out he left the remaining half bowl for his master and drank horse urine. Because of that old service, later masters treated him with some indulgence and rarely pressed him.[2]
The denunciation
He hated the wasteful life of the younger Ning household. In chapter 7 he got drunk and, without regard for taboo, shouted his accusations in public.[2]
