Shi Zuan was a general of Cao Wei in the Three Kingdoms period. Wikidata lists his occupations as politician and military officer and gives his death as the fifth year of Jingyuan in Wei (264). Chinese Wikipedia uses the same name for its article, so the title stays as it is.[1][2]
Sent to Deng Ai
Chinese Wikipedia says he began as chief clerk to Sima Zhao. When Deng Ai opposed the plan to attack Shu, Sima Zhao moved Shi Zuan to be Deng Ai's marshal in order to persuade him.[2]
The conquest of Shu
In the sixth year of Jingyao (263) Deng Ai sent his son Deng Zhong and Shi Zuan to attack Zhuge Zhan's Shu army from the two flanks. The Wei troops at first did badly, and Deng Ai angrily said he would execute Deng Zhong and Shi Zuan, ordering them to fight again to make up for it. They then broke the Shu army and killed Zhuge Zhan together with the palace secretary Zhang Zun, Huang Chong and Li Qiu, commander of the right feathered forest. Wei took Mianzhu and pushed straight on to Chengdu. After Shu fell, Deng Ai had Shi Zuan take charge of Yi Province, while Niu Hong, grand administrator of Longxi, and others took charge of the other commanderies of Shu.[2]
Death with Deng Ai
The same article says Zhong Hui, Hu Lie and Shi Zuan sent Sima Zhao a secret report that Deng Ai was arrogant about his merits and meant to rebel, and Sima Zhao had Zhong Hui put Deng Ai in a prisoner cart and send him back. In the fifth year of Jingyuan (264) Zhong Hui and Jiang Wei died in their revolt. Wei Guan, fearing trouble because he had joined Zhong Hui in accusing Deng Ai, sent Tian Xu and others after Deng Ai. They caught him west of Mianzhu and killed Deng Ai, Deng Zhong and Shi Zuan among others. It is said that Shi Zuan's body was badly mutilated when he died.[2]
