Character in Water Margin

Wei Dingguo is a character in Water Margin. Wikidata uses Wei Dingguo as his name. Divine Fire General is a nickname and Earth-fierce Star is a star name, so the title stays the personal name.[1]

In the novel

The cited Chinese Wikipedia says he is from Lingzhou, skilled in fire attack, and fights with fire weapons. He is called the Divine Fire General. He has eyes like bright stars, a round face and a tiger beard, and he dresses in red, with a red-bronze spear and a red horse, set against Shan Tinggui's black equipment. After Liangshan took Daming, Cai Jing recommended him and Shan Tinggui against the outlaws. In the first battle the two generals captured Xuan Zan and Hao Siwen. After Guan Sheng brought Shan Tinggui over, their combined force besieged Wei Dingguo in Lingzhou. With no way back, and with Guan Sheng coming in person to urge surrender, Wei Dingguo joined Liangshan. Later he followed Lu Junyi against Fang La's Shezhou. Seeing no banners and no soldiers on the wall, he and Shan Tinggui raced for the credit. They did not see the trap, fell with their horses into a pit, and were killed by the ambush.[2]
