Character in The Romance of the Three Kingdoms

Xiahou Jie is a character in the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Wikidata's simplified Chinese label is Xiahou Jie, and the English label is the same. The cited article says the Jiajing renwu edition, the Ye Fengchun edition, the Zhou Yuejiao edition, and the Huang Zhengfu edition write this man as Xiahou Ba, the same name as Xiahou Yuan's second son. Both forms appear, so the title stays Xiahou Jie.[1][2]

Changban

In the novel he is a commander in Cao Cao's personal retinue. In chapter 42, at the battle of Changban, Zhang Fei gives a great shout. Xiahou Jie is frightened to death and falls from his horse. This entry records the year of death as 208.[1][2]

A later game

The arcade game Tenchi wo Kurau II makes Xiahou Jie, together with Yan Ming, the boss of stage 6, Changban Bridge. The article treats that fighting figure as far stronger than the man who dies of a shout in the novel.[2]
