Yan Zheng is a fictional character in the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Wikidata's simplified Chinese label is Yan Zheng, and the English label is Yan Zheng, so the title stays the personal name. He is a commander under the Yellow Turban leader Zhang Bao. This entry records him as an officer, and the story is set in the Han.[1][2]
The surrender
Zhu Jun pressed the campaign against the Yellow Turbans and urged the government troops to attack Yangcheng with full force. The article identifies that Yangcheng with Xiaquyang. When the Yellow Turbans were in desperate straits, Yan Zheng assassinated Zhang Bao, offered the head, and surrendered.[2]
Another telling
Eiji Yoshikawa's historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms changes the episode: Liu Bei kills Zhang Bao first, and Yan Zheng kills Zhang Liang before surrendering to the government army.[2]
