Overview
Built as a tunnel station beneath the terminal of Berlin Brandenburg Airport, the station was structurally completed as early as 30 October 2011 but, owing to the airport's construction delays, only entered scheduled service with the airport's opening on 31 October 2020. It connects the airport with Berlin and Brandenburg; a total of around 636 million euros were invested in the station and its approach lines.
Services
- Regional rail: Airport Express (FEX) to Berlin Hbf, RE 7, RB 14 and RB 22
- S-Bahn: Lines S9 and S45 (station "Flughafen BER Terminal 1-2")
- Long-distance rail: An IC connection Dresden–Rostock calls at the station; since the opening there have been continuous plans for further long-distance connections
Station layout
The station has six platform tracks at three island platforms: two for regional and long-distance traffic (each 405 m long) and one 152.5 m long S-Bahn platform, ending as a stub from the west. The long-distance tracks run in a tunnel between the two runways beneath the terminal.
