The station lies on the 2.637 km long line Hamburg-Ohlsdorf–Hamburg Flughafen and was opened on 11 December 2008. Laid out as a tunnel/terminus station beneath the airport terminal, it is operated by DB Station & Service. It is served by line S1 of the Hamburger Hochbahn and DB at 10–20 minute intervals.
Services
- S-Bahn: Line S1 (Wedel–Hamburg Flughafen); the trains are split at Ohlsdorf, with the front portion running to the airport without stopping
- Long-distance/regional rail: none; the station is a pure S-Bahn station
Station layout
The terminus has an island platform with two tracks (operationally numbered tracks 3 and 4). The line operates with direct current via third rail, so there is no overhead line.
