Overview
The station went into operation on 7 March 1992 — shortly before the airport opened on 17 May 1992 — together with the new MVV S-Bahn line S8. The stop "München Flughafen Terminal" lies on level 2 of the airport in a tunnel up to 11 m deep and 1.3 km long beneath the terminals. The station part München Flughafen Besucherpark serves the visitor park between the runways. The daily figure of travellers and visitors given by DB in 2006 was just under 50,000.
