Overview

Beijing BRT Line 2, also called Kuai 2 or BRT2, is part of the Beijing Bus Rapid Transit system. It is operated by the Trolleybus Division of Beijing Public Transport Group and opened on 31 July 2008, the same day as Beijing BRT Line 3. The route runs along Chaoyang Road through Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts, from Yangzha to Chaoyangmen. It is about 14 km long, has 21 stops, and operates from 05:00 to 23:00 at both ends.[2]

Fares

The line uses distance-based fares, starting at CNY 2. Journeys of up to 10 km cost CNY 2; each additional 5 km costs CNY 1, up to a maximum of CNY 3 for the full route.[2]

Service changes

Yangzha stop was temporarily removed from the route from the first service on 28 April 2023 to accommodate construction of the Pinggu Line.[2]

A notice issued by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport and the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau set the operating hours for the BRT2 and BRT3 bus lanes to 07:00–09:00 and 17:00–19:00 on weekdays, effective 28 April 2026.[1]

Branch route (historical)

On 26 August 2009, Beijing Public Transport Group introduced a branch service from Chaoyangmen to Wuyihuayuan. It was discontinued on 26 May 2014; route 442 replaced service between Yangzha and Wuyihuayuan.[2]

Stop construction (historical)

After BRT2 opened, pedestrian overpasses serving several stops could not be completed for years because of demolition and relocation issues on both sides of the road. Dahuangzhuang Bridge West stop was completed in 2010 but did not enter service until 26 September 2019. Before 2013, the westbound-to-eastbound platform at Civil Aviation General Hospital stop was outside the busway, while buses in the opposite direction passed without stopping. Until 2020, passengers accessed Sanjianfang stop via a temporary pedestrian crossing.[2]
