ICE line 43 connects northern Germany with Switzerland. It runs two-hourly from Hamburg-Altona via Hamburg Hbf, Bremen, Osnabrück, Münster and Dortmund to Cologne, onward via the Cologne–Rhine/Main high-speed line to Frankfurt Airport and via Mannheim, Karlsruhe and Freiburg to Basel. Individual trains run via Zurich to Chur or into the Valais. Trains of the ICE 4 series are used.
Line 43 runs two-hourly between Hamburg and Basel; individual trains run to Zurich/Chur or into the Valais. Until 2025, one train pair began and ended in Binz or Hanover; in its place, individual services to Zurich/Chur or Brig operate. Since 2026 the trains have regularly stopped in Baden-Baden instead of Offenburg, swapped with line 20.
