Liu Li was a son of Liu Bei, the First Ruler of Shu Han, by a concubine. Chapter 34 of the Records of the Three Kingdoms says that Liu Li, courtesy name Fengxiao, was also a half-brother of the Later Ruler and a son of a different mother than Liu Yong. Wikidata's Chinese label is Liu Li, so the title stays the personal name.[1][3]
Enfeoffment
The Records say that in the sixth month of the first year of Zhangwu, the First Ruler sent the Minister over the Masses Xu Jing to install him as Prince of Liang. The charge said that the land of Liang was a domain near the capital, whose people liked instruction and could easily be led by rites, and that he should go and comfort the people and keep his realm. In the eighth year of Jianxing he was re-enfeoffed as Prince of Anping.[3]
Death and heirs
The Records say he died in the seventh year of Yanxi and was given the posthumous name Prince Dao. His son Prince Ai, Liu Yin, succeeded him and died in the nineteenth year of Yanxi. Liu Yin's son Prince Shang, Liu Cheng, succeeded and died in the twentieth year. In the fourth year of Jingyao the Later Ruler decreed that the Prince of Anping had been appointed by the late emperor, that three generations had died young and the line was broken, and that Liu Ji, Marquis of Wuyi, should take the princely title. Liu Ji was Liu Li's son, moved east to Luoyang in the first year of Xianxi, and was made a cavalry commandant and a village marquis. The Chinese Wikipedia article adds that his wife was a daughter of the general Ma Chao, whose name is unrecorded.[3][2]
The dates
This entry's structured record gives his birth as 212 and his death as 224. But Wikidata's own English description says he died in 244, the Records say he died in the seventh year of Yanxi, which is 244, and the Chinese Wikipedia article gives the fourth month of 244. So this text follows the Records and treats 244 as the death year, and 224 appears to be an entry error. His birth year is unknown; the Chinese Wikipedia article says only that he was born after 207.[1][3][2]
