Overview
Today's station building by Paul Bonatz was partially put into operation on 23 October 1922; the station is a terminus. It belongs to Preisklasse 1 and, with around 300,000 travellers and visitors daily, is Deutsche Bahn's fifth-busiest long-distance station. As part of the major Stuttgart 21 project it is being converted into an underground through station rotated by about 90 degrees with eight tracks; the Bonatz building is being preserved.
