Overview
The ZOB am Funkturm was put into operation in May 1966 on the initiative of Gustav Severin and replaced the bus station at Stuttgarter Platz. It lies on the western edge of the City West on Masurenallee, directly on the Ringbahn and the parallel urban motorway, immediately adjacent to the exhibition grounds. Since 2001 the ZOB has been operated by the Internationale Omnibusbahnhof Betreiber Gesellschaft (IOB), a wholly owned subsidiary of BVG. In 2017 around 166,000 departures and arrivals and some six million passengers and visitors were counted.
Services
- Long-distance buses: Regular national and international long-distance bus services from around 55 bus companies, including FlixBus and Eurolines; Berlin is the Central European hub for connections to Eastern Europe
- Public transport links: The S-Bahn station Messe Nord/ICC (Ringbahn, S41/S42/S46) is about 300 m away, the U-Bahn station Kaiserdamm (U2) about 350 m; in addition various BVG bus lines
Station layout
The ZOB has 35 bus bays (37 planned) for scheduled and charter services; after renovation, 27–33 bays will be in simultaneous use. As part of a fundamental renovation and capacity expansion, a two-storey new waiting hall building is being built.
