Overview
Pony AI (小马智行) was founded in 2016 by Peng Jun and Lou Tiancheng and focuses on Level 4 autonomous driving technology. Its businesses cover autonomous mobility services (Robotaxi), autonomous truck logistics (Robotruck) and intelligent solutions.
Capital and listings
On 27 November 2024 Pony AI listed on Nasdaq under the ticker PONY at US$13 per share, the largest US autonomous driving IPO of that year. On 6 November 2025 it listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, creating a dual primary listing structure in the United States and Hong Kong.
Business and partners
Pony AI launched its robotaxi service in 2018 and operates in Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, having moved into fully driverless testing and operation. It runs R&D centres in Silicon Valley, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Luxembourg. In April 2024 Pony AI set up a joint venture, Zhufeng Intelligent Technology (Guangzhou), with Toyota China and GAC Toyota to introduce robotaxi models. The company's site states it operates more than 1,700 robotaxis and about 200 robotrucks.
